Mon, 02/07/2011 – 1:12pm — J. Noedel-Publisher

The “Blizzard of 2011″ has come and gone and Montgomery County is still here. We spent most of our time trying to keep patrol vehicles thawed out enough to be able to help whomever we could.  It is well worth mentioning that our call volume dropped dramatically during the storm.  On the news when New York had their snowstorm their call volume became unmanageable.

People drive hours on the hope of seeing one or two bald eagles near Grafton, Illinois or other eagle hot-spots.  But several locals have told CNL they’ve seen the grandeur of two American bald eagles gracing the tree lines on the Montgomery side of the Missouri River at Hermann.  Indeed, CNL saw one of the eagles Thursday morning.

On Saturday, the eagles were seen “frolicking” on river-ice near the Kit Bond bridge.

Bulky Weight Yarns Knit Up Fast

posted in: Uncategorized - Comments Off

When you want to whip up a finished knitted item in one weekend or have a gift to knit and you are on a tight deadline to get that present finished, a bulky weight yarn can be a factor in getting done fast.

When looking for bulky weight yarn to buy online, you have a variety of brands, colors and types to choose from. Some yarn brands will call this weight a chunky yarn or quick yarn, with basically the same thickness overall.

You can choose between solid colors, tweeds, heathers, prints, multicolors, self striping yarn and more.

For best results, you will want to choose a knitting needle size that corresponds well to knitting with this weight of yarn. The range of US size 9 (5.5mm) all the way through 15 (10 mm) knitting needles work best with bulky weights.
