The “Blizzard of 2011″ has come and gone and Montgomery County is still here. We spent most of our time trying to keep patrol vehicles thawed out enough to be able to help whomever we could. It is well worth mentioning that our call volume dropped dramatically during the storm. On the news when New York had their snowstorm their call volume became unmanageable.

A giant paintbrush, scuplted from snow already on the sidewalk, was created today outside the new Type Styles sign and antique shop, 209 Schiller St. in Hermann.
Owners Tom and Kathy Durham developed the idea as a couple. Said Kathy, “I thought we should do something with the snow there, but Tom thought of the paintbrush.”

It was determined that the victim of the stabbing had five stab wounds to the back and two to the leg. A 16-year old juvenile was arrested for investigation of assault 1st and turned over to juvenile authorities.

People drive hours on the hope of seeing one or two bald eagles near Grafton, Illinois or other eagle hot-spots. But several locals have told CNL they’ve seen the grandeur of two American bald eagles gracing the tree lines on the Montgomery side of the Missouri River at Hermann. Indeed, CNL saw one of the eagles Thursday morning.
On Saturday, the eagles were seen “frolicking” on river-ice near the Kit Bond bridge.
